Gnome NetBSD

Install NetBSD (you’ve done this)
2.Add a user (you’ve done this)
3.Configure X (you’ve done this too)
4. Set up pkgsrc

# ftp -a ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/pkgsrc.tar.gz
# tar xzvf pkgsrc.tar.gz -C /usr
# cd /usr/pkgsrc ; cvs up

5. Install Gnome

#cd /usr/pkgsrc/meta-pkgs/gnome
# make install clean

6.Wait 5-15 hours depending on how fast your system is.
7. Switch to your regular user and make a .xinitrc

$echo exec gnome-session > ~/.xinitrc

8. Start gnome and have fun.

$startx

    Hey, thanks for this helpful stuff. Just curious what “# cd /usr/pkgsrc ; cvs up” is supposed to do? I got connection refused when I tried to run it, but the install seems to be working fine.
